Product description: Unique urn made from pulp, handcrafted by artists, hand-signed.
The urn's dome is meticulously handcrafted from cotton fibers and pigments made from earth, sand, and pebbles, modeled around a wooden mold. The urn's bowl is made of untreated cedar wood – the naturalness of its materials is what distinguishes this urn. The addition of natural pigments, in this case, a touch of earth, sand, and pebbles, makes each urn completely unique and gives it an authentic character.
The story behind the urns of T'URN
Cotton fibers and handicrafts
The base of the T'URN urns consists of fine cotton fibers, also known as linters. These soft yet strong fibers represent sustainability and climate and resource protection: Artist Jessica Maria Toliver uses the fine and valuable fibers that cling to the cotton seeds, giving them a second life, while the well-known long fibers of the cotton flower are used for textiles. The seeds then either go into the cooking oil industry or are used to replant the plants.
Natural pigments from collected earths, sand and pebbles determine the color and structure of this urn. After the pulp has dried, the surprisingly sturdy urn cover is fitted onto the turned cedarwood bowl. An algae-based emulsion protects the urn from moisture for 20-40 minutes during the burial. However, care should be taken not to leave the urn completely unprotected in heavy rain. Pulp is a biodegradable material, and choosing a T'URN urn implies a conscious approach to this characteristic. The algae emulsion decomposes completely in the soil.
Wood and processing
The oiled cedar wood of the urn bowls is carefully and precisely turned in a Franconian family business.
Product details:
- Material: Cotton fibers, binder, pigments from earth, sand and pebbles, and cedar wood
Cedarwood impresses with its warm, reddish-brown hue, which can be interwoven with golden to deep red nuances. The grain is clearly visible and often vibrant, with a delicate, aromatic fragrance that makes the wood unmistakable. Cedarwood exudes a natural warmth and durability – elegant, distinctive, and timelessly beautiful.
Wood is a natural material that may contain inclusions or have unique coloring and textures. Each urn is therefore unique. The product images are for illustrative purposes only. We would be happy to send you pictures of individual urns upon request (email: bestellung@natururnen-manufaktur.de) so that you can select one that is perfectly suited to your needs.
